Loner rat king

Only a rat, but my first and after a session of zero activity and superb conditions on Monday from 3am onwards, following a more active session the morning before in the exact same spot (few undersize dhus and the usuall reef pests), I decided to cast at a cardinal marker on the way back after seeing a shag in the water and 1 twitch after it hit the water it was smashed, great fun on light gear but sadly no more to be seen after that, prob should av put him in the live well, think he went and told his mates.....pretty stoked to get another species under my belt

Iv pulled the skirts along the back of the 3 mile a bit, plenty of weed around still, did some casting around horseshoe but man when the sets come through, gota be onto it. Pretty warm water atm, I caught some yakkas in 22m so the bait is around, macks gota turn up soon

We found plenty of them behind the islands late last week, taking trolled skirts, slices, plastics, poppers, I even caught one casting a tuna skirt at the reef, we had them so worked up they were just hanging around under the boat. Took the fly gear out the next day and couldn't find one, always the way eh
