they probably come lower but
they probably come lower but id say carnarvon upwards if you wanted a real chance at one. thats a fair hike for a fun weekend though so dongra and kalbarri stretch would probably be the closer area where you could get into some decent fish.

aslong as you got your
aslong as you got your skippers ticket most places have tinnies for hire, dun need much more than that, make sure your missus head out the way before you put a cast in though, dont think she'd be to happy with a giant of a popper or stickbait stuck or smashed into the side of her head

GT's
At least somebody set the bloke straight! The closest reliable spot to Perth that I've heard is Turtle Bay Dirk Hartog Island, You'd be fishing for a long time before you caught a GT in Dongara!! and as Brad said Exmouth is the go, try the naval pier.

if you actually read the
if you actually read the post properly you would see that at the end he says"if not where up north would be a good spot for fun fishing" . I was never implying that dongra would be a spot to try for gt's.

As Steve said, Shark Bay is
As Steve said, Shark Bay is the closest and really there has been no pressure on the Trevs there. You can catch them shore bashing at Cape Peron. The Naval Pier at Exxy has been abused by a couple of chaps and the exclusion zone is 400m from the pier last time I heard. 400m away from the feature is bugger all action so I'd head around to Oysters on dusk or chuck poppers where baby turtle usually hatch. You get good GT's and Spanglies around the lighthouse side on dusk.
