Hey everybody,
Pretty new to the pilbara, and saltwater fishing for that matter!! more use to the fresh water back home in the New England area. Anyways pretty keen on this GT popping ive heard so much about.. Any tips & places to go would be much appricated, i dont mean top seceret locations cause i no most people are very protective bout that kind of thing... but a little advice would be greatful. Ive been out a few times and managed to hook up on a few sizable fish but have only landed 2. Been snaped off bout 6 times, so i dont no if im unlucky or what. anyway, cheers...

Also ask Jay Burgess
No locations given but Jay is to popping up here as Brad is to Barra. But I know Brad is no slouch Popping either. I just think he is a Barra nut and cant wait for the heat of summer.
LOL both of you!!!

Happy to help you out, maybe ask some more specific questions so it's easier to point you in the right track.

hey mate, Ill start with
hey mate,
Ill start with telling you what gear im using, for now im using a Shimano stradic 8000 with beefed up drag, 7' G-Loomis 15-30lb pro blue, 80lb fins braid, 80lb jinki twisted leader. all tied on by a bimidi twist and a double cats paw. 120lb swivle tied on with a uni knot. havent had any troubles with my rigs so far but have had quite a bit of trouble with my mid sized river to sea poppers braking. i dont no if this is common or what but i have had 2 snap so far. anyone else had trouble?? apart from that they are grate lures. was also wondering about whats the best time of tide to fish for GT's???

Most of the ground we pop
Most of the ground we pop for GTs here is pretty brutal and I'd recommend atleast PE8 minimum but I don't think your reel really has to ability to get the most out of that line class... also your rod is also quite undergunnned. I would also go up to atleast 100lb for your twisted leaders. Yep the Dumbells do have a habit of snapping on decent GTs, you might just have to invest in some better quality poppers.

Gday Bucketmouth, what
Gday Bucketmouth, what tackle are you using to target GTs? ie what rod, reel, line, leader, poppers, hooks, knots etc
If you start with the right gear and technique you are halfway there.
