Hamelin bay

Hi everyone. Wondering if Hamelin bay would be good for salmon this weekend. Would the schools still be there? Have checked the search thing.
also what months will salmon be caught? For Hamelin Bay is it still worth going there or will metro be as good/better?

I wish. Lol just working out the seasons that salmon still go. I know that they are up in metro a bit but not sure of the schools have moved on ot not from down south like Augusta

The numbers of salmon around have been great all along the south coast so you got nothing to lose

Last weekend down on the beach's between Augusta and windy Harbour , definitely enough around to keep everyone entertained

3 weeks ago at the cut,
3 weeks ago at the cut, throwing out twistys (didn't have my surf rod yet) got about 10 herring over about 2 hours. Got then when I worked out a better technique. Other people caught salmon but we didn't.
2 weeks ago at the cut again had my new surf rod and reel and caught heaps of herring on lures at the start and made them live baits on a balloon. With my luck the reel breaks and have to cut the line... So had to stick to lures and th lures that we brought that day were 10g twistys so thought we would just catch some herring and throw them back. No salmon caught by anyone.
this week I will probably go to the north mole. It was wishful thinking going to Hamelin bay really cos parents said no. Heard that there has been some big schools heading through there over he past couple of weeks so gonna chuck out some live baits and richter plugs. Also some gold and chrome twistys.
hopefully I can get one this weekend :).

Have a look at the forecast buddy.
15-20kn NW all weekend with 2-3m swells.
Probably the worst weather possible for chasing salmon at Hamelin/Boranup.

no point fishing Hamelin bay
no point fishing Hamelin bay this weekend.
As Matt Pointed out, 15-20kn NW winds, worst winds from Hamelin, the bay will be absolute rubbish. You wont see any schools, it will be pissing rain at times, and the beach will be a mess.
