Harvey is closed to fishing
until the season re-opens on the 1st September, 2011. Doesn't matter if you are "just chasing reddies" or not.

Harvey not closed
Actually the Harvey isnt closed to line fishing.
It is one of the few dams that stays open. You still need your Fresh licences and have to release any trout but your ok to keep reddies as well.
This is confirmed on the fisheries site and the Shire of Harvey Website.

Thats right harvey is allways
Thats right harvey is allways open to fishing ,if you do catch a trout out of season you just have to put him back.
Water level is pretty low still , it allways is this time of the year.

No it isn't
Harvey Dam is a closed fishery. You show me were on the fisheries website that states Harvey Dam is an open fishery.

This clearly states that all waters are closed for the season except the following (and Harvey Dam is not listed).

I lived on the old Stansfield Rd, now underwater
And I was sure fresh water for red fin was and is open to fishing all year round. Need a FWL and release all trout.

But I couldnt find a reference to this on fisheries, but I am sure it is open. Have asked rangers and officers there in the past.

Was confused as well
I was confused as well last season, as even harvey tourist info conflicts in some parts. After many conversations with different fisheries officers ( who also had conflicting answers ) The result i came up with was the closure refered to trout , redfin and cobler could still be fished for within the dams.
Except for Waroona and Logue brook dams which have seperate rules. One new rule for these dams ( introduced either last season or the one before ) was no line fishing is permited for any species during the closed season.
Waroona and Logue Brook are also lure and fly only.
All other dams ( that you are alowed to enter ) You can bait fish as well, including Harvey. Some might disagree with this, but that is the way fisheries explaned it to me.
This is just my opinion and all fresh water fisho's should check the rules themself before fishing an area .
Cheers Grant
