Harvey Dam Bass

Nice conditioned Harvey Dam Bass caught recently, picture taken from a Facebook page. Apparently the fish was released and Fisheries WA has been seen at the dam over the last two weeks netting the place.

Good and bad. Good to see
Good and bad.
Good to see them thriving and hopefully pushing the Redfin out.
Bad news for those working so hard to have our waterways stocked with natives legally.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Especially when you consider
Especially when you consider that trout aren't even Australian native fish and were introduced in the early 1900s. I've always found it very strange that we stock an aggressive species introduced from overseas yet not from across the border.
I'd love to see Fisheries introduce some hard fighting Aussie natives to select dam systems in WA based on solid research which will be a boon for domestic tourism to our country towns which really need it but will (hopefully) also stop people taking the matter into their own hands and introducing these species themselves.
Lake Navarino (Waroona Dam) would be a prime example of a great location to introduce a bass fishery as it's chock full of reddies anyway. Close enough for a day trip and great camping facilities nearby and I know that Waroona needs the tourist dollars after the Forest Hwy was completed and people stopped using the South West Hwy to head down south.
Officially off the Pies bandwagon

Why would they net the place
Why would they net the place for a native fish but don't mind that a introduced species like Redfin are OK to thrive???
dont get me wrong- I'm happy to get a feed of reddies but fisheries should b letting more natives back into the system for everyone to enjoy- bass fight a lot harder than reddies
