though i can tell you from swimming at Kuta there are huge schools of Blind Mullet. If you have time, catch a taxi to Jalan Kalimantan in Denpasar - there is a fishing gear shop there that has everything under the sun - half the gear i couln't identify but a great way to spend a couple of hours and the family running it can certainly put you onto some spots. All the taxi drivers know the shop.

Bali Charters

Hi,
I know of 2 main options but these mainly cater towards jigging and popping (I'm not familiar with the bottom bouncing or trolling scene).

The first is Kaiser Sportfishing. A friend of mine helps run this service. http://www.kaiserfishingservices.com.sg

The second is also quite a famous outfit, they're called Adhek Sportfishing. http://www.adhek.net/

I can honestly tell you though that jigging in Bali is a challenge, due to its strong currents. You can be using 500g in as shallow as 60m of water! That's why they say, if you can jig Bali, you can jig anywhere in the world.

Popping wise there is only 1 small main location for GTs, and if it doesn't fire then that's it. If you really want to get into some hardcore fishing and you're there for 2 months, may I suggest looking at a short hop to visit some of the less exploited islands? There are quite a number of options.

Hope that helps.

Dogtooth, GTs, Mahi, Emperors, Grouper are easy targets there.  Lots of local operators, but most now target the fishermen from first world countries, so you are paying in US$. If you have a fav outfit bring it.  Most have decent reels but they look like they have never been serviced over the years and they generally use heavy poundage lines.

make sure ure not gettin fooled by faulse advertising.

wen we were there we chose a charter based on their brochure that showed a big 40ft boat, catchin huge yellowfin tuna an sailfish on big expensive game gear.

what it realy was, was a shitty 18ft runabout, looked about 50yrs old, they supplyed us with a selection of crappy rods and we bottom dropped in 10ft of water, the fish of the day was a 30cm leatherjacket which they thought was a snapper. it was so bad it was funny, bloody rip off
