I don't need to know how shit my trailer is. That's the next fix.
Hey guys,
Long time listener first time caller.
I received a HDS 9 touch from Santa (bias boating) looking for any tips with install.
In particular, the structure scan skimmer destructions say to mount within 1ft of sounder transducer.
How close is too close? Obviously there's a minimum with turbulence in mind.
Any photos of setups would be appreciated.
Any other tips appreciated.
BTW. It's on a 5.5 ally plate boat

best mounted as close to the
best mounted as close to the other tranny as practical mainly so the overlay feature of structure scan and sounder is more accurate. I have mine mounted on separate sides but had no interest in the overlay feature..
Mount it on the left/inside of your existing tranny as close as possible (assuming your using that one or mounting same place). Tranny you have looks about right height wise but the structure scan one will not be as low (relative to hull) other wise you'll end up with neat roster tails from water hitting the nuts on top the mount bracket. have the bottom just sticking below the line of the hull (with bracket just above it)
