Heading to Balla Balla
Submitted by barradiction on Tue, 2016-06-28 18:24
Hi all I'll be heading up to Balla Balla mid July or early August. I realise the first ramp I'll need a reasonable tide but what about the ramp on the left does anyone know what the lowest point in the tide I can launch a 3.7m tinnie.
cheers

The easier way to launch a small tinnie would be to have a drop down wheel on the drawbar . You can launch at both ramps in reasonable low tides but its the mud that will get you in trouble . The first ramp has rock a fair way down so that helps

maybe PM "Doc", he recently spent some time camped out there, im interested too as i have only launched there myself once but am keen to fish it more, just cant justify driving down from Hedland with the boat to get my tides wrong and cant launch.

At 3.7 mtrs you can pretty much drag your tinnie up and down with a little help.
Done it plenty of times.

Hi guys, we got our tinnie
Hi guys, we got our tinnie in and out without too much trouble. That's 3.8m. We had an extender bar connected to the tow ball on the bull bar that gave us an extra couple of meters on the ramp. Learnt that from similar ramps on the east coast and FNQ. Generally didn't put in or out at the bottom of the tide anyway.

Thanks all for the replies,
Thanks all for the replies, good tip Doc I got the boys in the workshop to knock me up an extension draw bar today. No issue getting the boat out of the water I'll skull drag it with the 4x4 but getting it in was my concern the old man's not as young as he used to be so I'd be doing it on my own.
Sound's good Feral will do, dates aren't set in concrete yet I'm trying to time it with the neaps if possible, main target is going to be Barra but to break things up a trip out to the islands sounds inviting, will let you now.

Raining again last night,
Raining again last night, still a bit of cloud around, temps are not getting up much. Might have to look at warmer climes, only problem is the nomads are all over the place.

We're getting ready to pull up stumps again, head down to the Ashburton, a couple of nice camps down there. Have a look around Onslow and stock up on a few things.

Hi Adam, caught between the devil and the deep blue sea, rain and flooding one way and grey nomads the other, apparently they are packed in like sardines the further north you go and the warmer it gets, so trying to avoid that, it rained all the way to here yesterday, we just done an overnighter just out of Onslow, water tanks full and black tanks empty, plenty of rain overnight so maybe we'll head back across to Karijini for a while, we're going around in never ending circles..
