Derby - Prince Regent River in Kimberley Salt
We did this trip last winter, it was my 6th trailer boat adventure into the wilds of the Kimberley coastline, we pushed up the PRR so far that once we had run out of water on the high tide in the 8m boat, we launched a blow up and kept pushing. Sometimes with the leg up on the 5hp and using a stick, we were like madmen obsessed! Good to get up the end after having to turn around in the approaches to the mouth last year due to a lack of fuel reserves. Stunningly remote up the end of the river with amazing bat colonies, it was like something out of jurassic park. we did not see another vessel anywhere after raft point, epic solitude. heres the snaps from that trip, first image is at Kuri Bay where we had 1200 litres ULP cached for us conveniently on the jetty

yeah that was sheep island,
yeah that was sheep island, which was a failed attempt at an early settlement way back late 1800\s, lots people died and buried on the island, the sheep died and it was an all round disaster apparently!
as for the fish shots, i dont really fish nor like killing stuff unless im going to eat it on the spot!

Mate, are you using some sort of special lens filter as the colours on some of the pics are outstanding, especially the first one..?

no mate never use color
no mate never use color filters, i do use pro nikon gear (the lens that took that shot is about $2200 and the body about $3500) it helps but really the main thing is to know when the color palette across the whole view is right to shoot in, its all about the light! it was a particularly colorful evening and probably a 4 sec exposure, telling the fella on the boat not to move a muscle... expensive nikons with full frame sensors will accurately render the color in these situs, you pay for it but!

thanks for that
A camera course is on my list of things to do. I have a Canon D60 with a Tamron 18-270mm lens which I love but its only mid range. It is capable of good pictures but I'm using maybe 5% of its capabilities. Need to do that course...
ps, that looked an awsome trip..
