Hedland on a windy weekend

Hi everyone.

Sorry, a bit new here, both forum and Pilbara. Just moved to Newman 10 weeks ago from Adelaide, and brought the tinny with me.

We will be living here for some years, and my very first trip across to Hedland will be this weekend.

The forecast is blowy saturday, any ideas for us to try if the open water is too choppy ?

I have a 4.2m BlueFin Rogue, she's a solid tinny, but dont want to chance the rough stuff first time out in new waters, and a few hints as to what creeks will provide

some excitement, would be hugely appreciated.

Mike

 Hey Mike, I have a 4.2m Dory

 Hey Mike,

I have a 4.2m Dory up here in Hedland and still find things to keep myself amused when the wind is blowing. If you launch at Finucane island you have access to quite a few of the creeks to the west of town from there. There is alot of exploring to be done as there is alot of water to explore which is fun in itself. It can be a bit bumpy on the inside of Weerdie island but is managable in a boat like yours. You have got almost Neap tides on the weekend so will be able to drive in and out of the creeks when you like. Another option is to try the dropoffs behind Weerdie for Bluebone and trout.  You dont have to travel far out to find them so it could be a good option for you.

I hope this helps.

Thanks Paul, sounds like finucane will be the better side to head for if we aren't going out far. Sounds like there may be some

fish to be had fairly close in. Will probably use the time to take a good look round some of the creeks while the tide is quite small. Next Trip will hopefully be on a better weekend weather wise .

Thanks for the tips
