Help on info for my outboard 150hp mariner EFI 2 stroke

 G'day

i brought myself a Chivers meridian 5.8.2008 with a 150hp 2stroke mariner 2008 outboard 200hrs old. I live in Derby and found the boat uses ALOT of fuel, about 55l an hour. I'm hoping this is not right?

It's a pretty big issue not only because of the money side of things, but because the fishing up here is so remote and most of the boating is 2-4 hours one way.

Any info would be appreciated, or just being pointed in the right direction.

Cheers

What speed?

What speed do you travel at?
Belting along at flat out or near it is going to chew juice so back off to about 2/3 throttle or revs and work the trim while watching the rev counter to find optimum working range then try to stick to it.

Our 10 metre Naiad with twin 300s uses 65 litres an hour at 25knots but when you put the hammer down to around 40 knots then you are talking somewhere near 220 litres an hour, just for examples sake.
