Help with Lowrance GPS/Sounder

Hey All,

My Lowrance LCX27C GPS/Sounder is playing up. It comes up with a "GPS module not responding" message when it fires up. I've checked the GPS module and it's fine. I was wondering if anyone out there has an LCX25 or LCX 27 that would mind helping out. I've been told that either the cables/T connectors or the head unit itself could be the problem.

Any help would be appreciated

Archie

Hey Archie Mine's a Lowrance

Hey Archie

Mine's a Lowrance sounder/gps combo as well but a different model than yours. On my unit there are TWO sets of power leads (positive and negative each) which both have to be hardwired into your boat. If you only hook up the main leads, that's the message that comes up (GPS module not responding). Again, this is what I experienced with mine...once I wired up the other pair of leads, all was good. Hope this helps.

Thanks mate,

tried that, it's all connected properly. At one stage I was running power direct to those wires from the battery and even that didn't help.I even tried a new module and it's doing the same thing. I'm told it's either a faulty NMEA cable or T piece, or it could be the main unit. None of the dealers around here have one set up that I can interchange parts with to isolate the problem.

That's what I'm leaning towards. I've got a new one on the way. Sounds like they can be pretty sensitive.
