Not sure what all the crap about the sandi and nik nat no stat is. Marking contest not a ruck contest. Sandi with courage backing back into a pack, unfortunately the guy coming forward is the second biggest bloke out there. No malice. Completely legal. No repercussions from freo players. Didnt a geelong player lose kidney in a similar incident?
I know freo's issues are much deeper than ruck talent, but fuck its good to have the big fella back so perhaps we can have some first use clearances again!

When you have 122kg of log lumbering back towards you when going for a mark you are going to protect yourself by raising your knee. This "intentional" shit that people are spewing out of their mouths is just sour grapes

Ok, I can talk from experience here, I used to be a ruckman until I stopped growing at 6'2". Putting up the knee, yes, all ruckmen do it, I used to as well. When the knee goes up for "protection", the leg is pretty well at 90 degrees, using the shin or lower leg to cushion it and it absorbs the hit somewhat. Fair enough? When we wanted someone to feel it, especially coming over the back of someone for a mark or similar, we would bend our leg back further bringing our knee to a hard stump almost, then our leg would be at around 45 degrees or less, depended how skinny your leg was, you could make a pretty good point to make plenty of damage. Have another look at the angle of Nic Nots leg when he hit Sandilands. Every bit of 45 degrees. Watch it without your blue and yellow glasses. Nuff said.

I said before that game that we needed to try to rag doll the Dockers to shake the physical dominance they've had over us and I've no doubt Nic Nat hit that contest as hard as he could taking a screamer in the process! An inch either way and we wouldn't we wading through more tears coming from Cockburn since the time Sandiland's jaw simply fell apart in a Derby in 2006.
End of the day, knee 90 degrees or 45 degrees, dog act or collateral damage.... if you don't wanna get hit by a truck then get off the frigging highway!!

Its part of the game. Not that I played much (Rugby was the game!) but when I did and see things close players often raised the knee going for a mark to leverage up higher. If someone was going for a screamer on my back I would rather wear a bent knee than a number 11 boat with studs in my back!! And trust me as a rugby forward in the good old days you get very used to studs. Talk of a game GONE soft - Rugby is a pansy game compared to the former days, hence why I watch footy instead.

Can't say I agree for a couple of reasons.
First one is the bloke has just come back from a knee reco and it can take up to two years to regain the proprioreception in the knee and until that you are relying on your body's memory of your spatial awareness of your knee. For the bigger guys it really does seem to affect them, look how long it took Tex Walker to get back to his best and Emac is either not getting to the contest and is shiting himself when he does and fumbling/dropping it. I reckon he really needs to get back to the WAFL and find some confidence in his ability to get to the contest and then start to build some good form.
Second is that we wouldn't get enough for him to bother trading him and wouldn't cut him as we need depth for our backline and fucked if I want to rely on Mitch Clown.
That's my take on it anyway.

I got no idea how to tip this weekend, pies or tigers? Tigers have been through the ringer, can they stand up and be counted with a win? Dunno. Looks like uncle and I made a good decision to go for a snapper fish this evening. Fishing started a bit like the Pies, good start and then faded away.
