You definately need to
You definately need to burley. For my herring rig I use a berley cage with sinker (a good mix of pollard oil and water to get a good consistency)Number 2 hooks. For bait I use cut up coral prawns. It's good to find beach with a little bit of reef nearby but not essential. Get a good berley trail going as well. I find they don't like the dirty water so much after a big blow. Hope this helps

If you buy premix you need to
If you buy premix you need to mix a little water in to get the sticky consistency. I go to city farmers and buy the 5kg bags lasts for ages. Any cheap ass fish oil will do as long as you get the slick going they will follow it in. Anzac day is traditionaly know as herring season kickoff.
