Hey Fish Hunter,

We did a similar thing two weekends ago. Awesome area to explore. We got there late in the day (3 ish) coming in from the turn off at hill river (a few km before Jurien Bay). It took us a few hours to explore and find a spot. There wasn't much beach and with an incoming tide we decided to use the inland tracks popping out every now and then to look for a place to fish. Because it was a long weekend the crowds ment we nearly made it to Cervantes before finding a nice enough spot.

That night we got herring and tailor. We had a few big baits out late into the night and into the morning but they didnt get touched at all. The wind also died down making it real nice.

The next morning we exited through Cervantes via the beach. You could come up through there to get in but I'd recommend low tide as you may run out of beach otherwise (at least it was like that two weeks ago). We also stop off at Hangover Bay on the way home and had a cook up on the free BBQs for breaky. We had a look at the beach there and to out surprise it was weed central. There were a couple of areas where the weed had been washed up (lots of it) and then covered in sand. Needless to say we didnt explore there much more.

I'd fish there any time of year if the wind was ok. We will probably be up again on the 9th of April I think?

Hope that helps.

How did u find the beach when u did drive along it ?  iv been told can be very soft towards Jurien end ..

Sounds like this place is definately worth the trip then.

The beach was soft but I've got an old (03 non turb) hilux and just let the tyres down to 15psi (when hot) from the start. A combination of light weight and no real power means I just cruze along.

Depending on what you drive it might be a different experience. The other guys I was up there with were getting a little worried closer to the Cervantes end and ended up airing down further (not sure what they were at to start with).

Flick us a message if your heading up round that time.
