Hillary's Boat Harbour (Marina)

Hi, I am relatively new to the Hillary's area and am looking for some tips (bait, rigs, location, rods, reels etc...) for landbased fishing in Hillary's Boat Harbour (Marina) either inside the harbour or off the rock walls. I heard that bream, tailor, baby snapper, whiting are all fish that are caught by the locals there and would like to know where in the harbour and how.

Cheers

Pre-boat days i enjoyed many a session fishing inside and out the harbour.

Great spot and you can catch a fairly broad range of fish pretty much anywhere inside and out.

 incoming tide fish lightly

incoming tide fish lightly weighted blue sardines, white bait or mulie cubes around the boat pens near the mouth. Night time is usually better because the blowies arent as active. There are some good fish in there, but you've just gotta persist. Inside fishes alot better when its rough as guts outback. Bait casting small mulies in the lights behind the breakwater at night always produces tailor. Ive caught em to 60cm inside the marina

I've seen schools of what I take to be decent (yellowfin?) whiting at times. There are also lots of mullet if you can catch 'em. I've tried without sucess. I've also seen some decent silver bream and the odd cobbler. I watched a shag eating a BIG cobbler the other day as I was going out. It took a bit of doing but he finally got it down!
