hooks left on beach

one of my Daughters walk into this last night, 3 sinkers, 4 large hooks, and two sets of gangs, she let rip with a all mightly scream after walking on this lot, she was lucky I was able to pull out the gangs that wraped around her big toe.

I know it cant be helped but these hooks and stuff were on the beach were people walk up and down, just beware if fishing at Port Kennedy beach its a pig sty, crap every where wasn't like that last week.

I guess we're lucky that

I guess we're lucky that we'd step on a hook and not a used needle like some beaches in the world.

What is going on with their swivel setup? Looks like two snaplocks, one ball bearing to two sinkers? You see some really odd terminal connections on some lost gear, like a massive snap direct to a hook, or terminal tackle joined by a series of half hitches (how they even had a full rig left I dont know). I once found braid that seemed about as thick as my 100lb mono at the north mole. All last seen in a bin though ;)

If they are going to leve tackle for people to find you would think they'd put decent hooks on it not scabby limericks.
Good thing the daughter wasn't injured, seem to hurt you more than them when they get a hook in

Hooks on beach

Mon, 2009-01-12 14:44

Well, after my last post, you know I don't like to leave rubbish behind, but I reckon I know what may have happened to Tommys Kid.

How often have we been busted off after tangling with a big chunk of seaweed? That seaweed then washes onto the beach and rots away, leaving the fishing tackle.  Maybe?

 Or

The wharf I regularly (sp) fish always has tackle, some times rods, handlines, knifes and lures. My kids are very good at finding discarded tackle

Yeah not good Karl. There

Mon, 2009-01-12 19:29

Yeah not good Karl. There has been plenty of crew down there after dark. I would like to beleive it's not a deliberate thing mate. Could lay rigs out early, leave em after dark and forget/ Pretty easilly done (no they weren't mine :-)

Glad daughter is OK - best therapy more salt water immersion mate.

I hate that

When I was a clubby we were always fixing people up with cut feet or hooks in their feet.
