How did everyone go today?
We did pretty well after a slow start. Trolled behind staggies for zip, then went on the hunt for some KG country. Tried haps of new ground and finally hit a nice spot and nailed the first KG of the day. Unfortunately the bite shut down and the wind eased so we headed out wide. Hit a few new spots and a few old ones and ended up with quite a few quality fish. Left them biting to get home in time for my dad to go to the glory match.
My dad caught his first decent dhuie and replicated it a moment later so it was a great day on the water. I will post up some pics soon, just need to go for a swim to cool off and then fillet all the fish.
Species list included blackarse, skippy, kg's, dhuies and flatties.
Cheers

Yeah, nice enough boat, deck
Yeah, nice enough boat, deck work left an awful lot to be desired though. Rob C, Chinny and m'self basically ran the deck, the deckie had a very easy day today, so much so that he and the skipper fished (bait......) for the best part of the day.... :(
Still, in the boats defence, it was their 1st "jigging charter", and i think they learnt a bit today. I spoke at length with th skipper, and he's agreed, he needs to speak to Ryan about stocking up on some rudimentarys, ie landing net(yep, a landing net.......... :(), release weight etc etc etc.
, but he seemed very responsive to our suggestions, i'm sure he'll get it sorted. Towards the end of the day, he and his deckie showed a healthy inerest in floaters, which was nice. I think we knocked a few sambos' on the head today, but all released fish fish swam strongly, and floaters were dealt with reasonably, which was good to see.
I'm sure you'll have a good day... nice tub

Yeah Deefa we left early due
Yeah Deefa we left early due to me loosing 3 jigs in 3 drops. Couldnt win no mater what I did. But I must admit I lost 2 due to poor knots (my bad). Wont do that again. After that We just admitted defeat and called it a day for the jigging. I was also pretty keen to try find some bottem bashing ground back in towards Rotto.

Nebraska
Must say I was questioning what was going on with you guys on Nebraska today. Watching the fish get pulled by the leader over the side from very high gunnels and then watching the ring a ring a rosy circus when 5 of you hooked up, that was pretty funny and good to have on video. ;)
Seeing as you mentioned it was the first day out then thats understandable. But not to have a marlin board (or whatever they call it) on the back to land and release fish would, lets just say, get people from other websites infuriated based on previous 'opinions' expressed. To the guy that yelled out 'stick that on your f****n website' well, I have and there ya go! Don't worry, we'll go back and do your floater for you. I saw Rob C and Deefa doing a lot of deckie work in the coupla times we floated past you, thought you guys should be getting paid, not paying! Was great to see ya wearing your shirt too Honsu, was well stoked. :)))
Just couldn't get into the jigging yesterday, just wasn't doing anything for us. Atleast the rest of the day made up for it. Will post up a thread and the pictures in it soon.

clearing throat
clearing throat meekly........twas I that hollered that Adam, in jest of course, certainly no malice intended. And Rob and I certainly had our hands full yesterday, Honsu certainly did his bit too. He was the master untangler.
To be fair to Nebraska, it was was his 1st jigging venture, and to that end, he was ill equipped. But rest assured, he'll be well sorted by next jigging trip. From what we saw, the guy does run a tight ship, nice rig to fish from. Everyone has to start somewhere. I didn't mention the boats name to bag him, just i know you saw us on the water today Adam, and from what you & others would've witnessed, it wouldna looked too good. That floater you re-released for us, was the only one we couldn't get back down, if you guys weren't there at that time, we would've gone back and picked it up, and probably kept it for a feed.(which we did with another fish earlier in the day). So in all, not a bad result, one fatality, every other fish released and watched to swin away, which was very heartening. So we did the best we could given the antiquainted facilities we had at our disposal. Believe me, this wasn't our preferred way to go jigging either, but i believe we made a pretty damn good fist of it.
p.s. thanx again for yours and tapouts help in re spearing our floater, you guys rock..

It was yooooou!
Hahahha, no probs Deefa, I thought it was some old bloke on the back but it musta been your voice from behind them. I saw you running frantically up the front, down the back, passing lines over n under. Was almost as entertaining as catching the fish. ;)))

You saw me
You saw me running???????.............nevvvveeerrrrr.
please don't tell anyone, would make people think i been doin some exercise.....perish the thought.
All b/s aside, i really got a kick out of yesterday. I have been hangin to get to blood a new outfit, which i did in spades, but was actually far more satisfied with being actively involved in the "nurture" side of things. To be thanked by Tony the skipper at days end, for, for want of a better set of words," teaching an old dog new tricks" so to speak, was all i needed to hear.
The more experienced amongst our group yesterday were quite jaded with what we saw at the start of the day, but by days end we (well, i guess i really only should speak for myself), i was very pleased with the way it turned out. Once we took control of the deck, which i think kinda ticked skipper and crew off a bit at first, they sort of sat back and watched how these fish should really be cared for.

Are you gonna be posting the vid of our 1st drift and ensuing tangle?
Wouldn't make good viewing by those "purists" amongst us me thinx. Still wouldn't mind havin a squizz at the footage sometime.
Isn't it funny how, even though we were divided into two groups, once someone hooks up on something biiiig, the temptation is just too much, and its all in. That certainly didn't help, i think thats the footage you got.
P.S i was very careful to smile sweetly for the camera, and resisted the urge to chuck a nice ol' cheesy brown eye.... Now thats a sight you wouldn't wanna be posting...hehehe

Yeh, Mav thought about the browneye too, but luckily it was avoided.
I won't put the vid up on the site, but when I get time to edit it I will send ya a pm and put it up behind the scenes so you can dl it. I don't think it will be very good footage anyway, that bloody easterly was making hard work for filming, up she goes, down she goes, bit of left from the north, bit of swell from the south... uRRRRK!
Glad to hear you boys had a good day out, even thou it was a bit of a break in the boat session.

did alright
we did alright once the wind dropped a lil. we sheltered for a while catching some nice decent sized whiting for the older peoples next door then when it dropped headed out to a nice patch i have anf found a nice queeny and a few small pan sized pinkies then a few big hits with bust offs. a nice eagle ray and then we had the tuna launch right next to the boat. so in went the lures and wow what an insane ten mins. i think we managed four or five small tuna on light gear what a thrill. but all fun and games must come to an end with the sea breeze.
