How was Karratha

Sunday and Monday? I flew up Friday and while Saturday was a bit crappy, Sunday and yesterday looked brilliant - and a lot of boats on the road. As is normal, i never saw water other than from the plane - that makes Exmouth, Broome, Kununurra and Karratha in the last few months and managed a quick fish only once in Kununurra. I hope the Karratha guys did well.

Ian went out on Sunday, lined up at the club, out in gentleman's hours and flew to End of W Lewis and then trolled to Eaglehawk Island. Lots and I mean lots of rat SMacks, all on the R2S Triho's, nothing on the F18's and Halco's??? A trolling Popr would have been smashed but I was having a beer and couldnt be bothered with changing rigs that was keeping us busy.

Bottom bounced near eaglehawk, you could see the bottom and fish in 10m water, but little joy. Moved to a spot of ours near W Lewis and score!!!

Gillian 1 big Blue lined and a nice Coral trout, for me 2 legal flag (yum) and a blue lined taken home. Must have caught a fish a drop but lots undersize. Anyway only take what you can eat fresh is our rule.

Was a fantastic day out but returned stuffed ready for Monday!

if you had looked to your left at the Balmoral Road roundabout, i was the fool shovelling concrete into the kerbing machine. Sounds like you both had a good day - as i said, the weather conditions looked perfect. Next time i'm up i am sneaking off for a fish.

Saturday crappy!?

Dunno where you got that from but I reckon Saturday was actually the best day. We had glassy seas and clear skies almost all day. Monday was mostly cloudy, conditions I don't really like.

Couldnt get out on Saturday, had to drop the joungster off at work (in the middle of the day!!!). If it was better than Sunday then it was a bloody good day.

Did you guys get into some. I know you went out with Craig. Have only seen the bluebone. I forgot my camera so who am I to complain about posts.

Will take the camera and get some pics. Just got to get the "boss" interested in venturing into deeper water. A southern fisho, she is happy with pulling up all sorts that would be considered shit fish up here, but Flag and blue lined, cods and sods, one trout and the most ugly oogly I have ever seen kept us entertained on the drop.

I rigged a strange rig to try and convince Gillian to jig. She used a basic Paternoster with one hook Black magic 5/0. I used the same rig, but replaced the sinker with a Taikabura.

I am sure she is silently thinking as often the fish went on the jig firts, and I had to show her every fish, didnt I!!! LOL. A couple of double header certainly made me make certain that she was aware.

Will get her into clean fishing soon I am sure.

Cheers

for my poor assessment - it's a bit hard when you are pushing a barrow a long way from the water. Good to hear that it was that good.
