If it ain't broke don't fix it

So I go online to renew son's BFL the site and procedure is all changed. Anyway after declining to register with DOT (an option) I'm forwarded onto the renewal page and enter son's details exactly as per the licence. Error message saying not of the details entered match any in the system WTF!!

I've been renewing online for years without a glitch now this crap because some smart jockey wants to change it all up and try save the gov some money no doubt.

I now have to make phone calls to chase all this up and sort out, what a crock of shite.

The previous system was simple and easy, why change it you bureaucratic morons.

Straight from their site

<><> I love the line "The improved system is easy to use with new features making buying or renewing your licence simple."    <><>

Recreational fishing licences

From 12 January 2019, applications for online recreational fishing licences and renewals are processed through the Department of Transport’s DotDirect website. This won’t result in any changes to licence fees and we will still be issuing you with your licences. The improved system is easy to use with new features making buying or renewing your licence simple.

All customers will need to apply for a new licence the first time they use the DoTDirect website. Only licences with an expiry date after 13/1/2020 can be renewed or linked to your DoTDirect account through the DoTDirect site.

I told the lady at dot that

Thu, 2019-01-17 10:21

I told the lady at dot that the fisheries office was shutting down when I last had to renew boat and trailer rego and that she would be having to do it in future and she told me no we are not then I told her that I had received a letter informing me of this and she was not happy saying that they are under staffed already.

would appear iv been lucky ...just renewed all my licences online with fishries on 2nd jan ...

so now ill be ok till i have to access this circus in jan 2020 ,, by then they may have it sorted

so on the new DOT site they now ask for your vehicle rego etc ??

if so they are wanting to link fishing licence id to vehicles , that would be interesting extra info for them/police to have out and about in the field when doing licence checks etc

 Every now and then Hezzy

Thu, 2019-01-17 11:30

Every now and then Hezzy they have a major check point at Wilbinga on our way up to Seabird. I've seen Police, Fisheries and Dept of Immigration officers there all at once doing checks. I've always been luck and waved through (must be my honest face lol).

Looks like I renewed mine

Fri, 2019-01-18 15:48

Looks like I renewed mine just before the shitfight.
On a side note due to the fee increases decided not to renew the wifes as she might only go once or twice a year so will fish on my bag limit which won't worry me as can still bring 2 threadies and a couple of tripletail home. Cheers for the saving fisheries...
