If it was you?

Question is...     would you still go?

Supposed to leave for exmouth fri morning for 8 days, scrambling through every weather site known to man to get an idea of the swell and wind that will effect the coast.

WOULD YOU still go?

Yep! Gotta be in it to win

Yep! Gotta be in it to win it! Plus there are worse places to be!

Sat and Sunday look good, then you could explore the bottom of the gulf cos the winds look southerly early next week. But things could change quickly.

Or you could spend another day of travel - have less days for fishing - but hit up Broome. Long range forecast looks pretty good

Same boat as you Gilly, I arrive in Exmouth on Monday. I figure 12 days of drinking and relaxing if I cant fish, is still better than being at work!

Bloody hell mate I go through this agony every year with Gnaraloo. But looking at the forecast I'd still go, southerly moderates forecast so still doable inside the gulf.

Weather forecast.

Wed, 2018-03-21 08:37

How many times has the weather forecast been correct??

Did Exmouth for 14 years & only a few times it was right.

The weather changes, you can't control it. Go for it.

A bad day on holiday in Exy is so much better than a day at work.

The only time i wouldn't go would be if there is a cyclone on it's way.

Did it with cyclone Vance, delayed our time for 2 weeks & it was still a mess.

No power, no water, no launch ramps but it was still a holiday.

We made the most of a new experience.

Do it..........

 Why wouldnt you go?It will

Wed, 2018-03-21 08:41

 Why wouldnt you go?
It will already be well past Exmouth by then.
Im at Cape Preston and we have the swell now.

Fly home tonite and get another bite of the cherry in a couple of days when it comes down the coast.
Exmouth may not even get any rain

where are you staying?

Wed, 2018-03-21 09:02

you cant stay at work another week?  Staying in a tent or House?

Why not hit kalbarri saturday .. stay a couple of days there and see what happens.

You might get a few days hot fishing before the low on the macs and then drive up when the weather turns.

it is far more likely to have a negative impact on Kalbarri, or further south than it is at  Exmouth,

 Not concerned with it

Wed, 2018-03-21 09:48

Not concerned with it crossing the coast just the effect it will have on the wind and swell.

I must be reading a different weather map because i thought i read as it grows in size it has slowed dramatically and it goes past exy on fri

 As they slow down they

Wed, 2018-03-21 10:03

As they slow down they intensify, speed up as they break down.
By the time you get to Exmouth it will be way down the coast and swell from it will drop away quickly

Its forecast to move steadily in a big arc and the forecast says it has a well defined centre so plotting and tracking has a high confidence until about friday/sat

I spent a week there with roaring notherlies and that was the only time we couldn't find anywhere soemwhere to fish from the boat. Frustrating fishing creeks at the bottom of the Gulf when there's a hire boat sitting there at over a grand a week! I'd still go based on teh above though!

Go Go Go

Wed, 2018-03-21 17:43

If it was me I'd be packing ready to go, Marcus will bring the swell up bit IMO thats all its going to do. There is always the gulf or down around Wapet creek if things get too bad on the west side. If it turns pear shape then there is the Potshot to drown your sorrows.

Did a trip to Gnaraloo many years back, son and I got out the day we arrived for a quick fish, other mates arrived next day and never took boats off the trailer for the next 14 days.

Good side to it

Thu, 2018-03-22 05:38

One good side to it was that we invented "Two Can Fishing"

You put a full can of beer in your back pocket and an open one in your shirt pocket, as you walk along the beach flicking lures , you slowly consume the open can, when its empty you swap it with the full one and reverse your direction, it should take roughly the same time to work your way back to the esky to sit down enjoy another can, reload and then head off the other way , flicking lures as you go, repeat as often as the esky or your sobriety holds out
