Illegal fishing

Well my first call to fish watch last night. I love netting (pilbara cleaning as you catch) but this pissed me off because it was unmonitored and everything was spoiling in the mud and sun. Managed to save one of the largest female brown crabs id ever seen that was soft shell as it was barely hooked, but didn't feel like meeting the locals who had set it either. Lots of trevs, queenies, mullet, sharks, couple of small female muddies well tangled and a 1m plus threddie. 500m near the ktown back beach boat ramp, I'm pretty tolerant of most things, but this felt like a real waste.

Good Job
Good job in reporting it. Cannot stand people thumbing their noses at the rules and regs that we all have to follow, especially netting in closed waters and rivers

Didn't think you were able to
Didn't think you were able to put a set net out up this way. Total waster of fish and total disregard to the rules. Well done . Hope they caught them

Pretty strict
Pilbara has some zones but pretty strict rules to it and you have to travel, much more stringent than Exmouth. Then again it's much easier to throw net and get bait up here anyway.

If I was there and the locals that set it were not
around that net would be cut into lots of pieces

Not to mention the star
Not to mention the star pickets hanging out of the creek banks after they've left. Come close to staking a sidewall a couple of times.

It's called traditional
It's called traditional fishing and they can use set nets and get away with it. Totally wrong in my opinion but nothing will be done. We get the same shit up here in broome.
