Just looking and reading about some of the gear you guys have, and wondered while we insure our boats and vehicles, do you take out separate insurance for your gear?
These "Hi-end" reels and rods would be serial numbered, and at the values some of it is worth, would or should be at least listed (item description model and serial number) on your home contents insurance policy.
I think the insurer would also stipulate how the items should be kept to prevent theft, i.e. kept locked up when not in use.

No special clauses
I just made sure it was covered, and where as well (carport, garage, shed, house, etc).
Ive also formally informed the insurance company of an approximate value and itinerary of all my gear, so there's no arguments if it goes missing.
With tho all that being said, I'm with APIA, and can't speak highly enough about the service they've given us.

Depends on your actual policy
I just had a claim processed for a couple of grands worth of gear that was knocked off from my unlocked garage.
I was concerned they wouldn't cover it, but I found out the policy I have covers any belongings removed from my property. We were told this would even include kids bikes left out the front lawn.
Just had to provide proof of ownership, either receipts, or photos of the gear. Nothing was listed separately on the actual policy, all came under home and contents.
A police report number also had to be provided.
Pays to actually suss the fine print in your policy and keep photographic records of your stuff, and or receipts obviously.
Now just waiting on my new rod to come in.....

All my gear is under my home
All my gear is under my home and contents insurance, so if it's stolen from home then it's all covered, I'm also covered for upto $1000 for something that is stolen/lost while I'm away from my home, provided its part of my home and contents. I also have all my fishing gear, tools, surfboards, camera, absolutely everything of value documented, got it all itemised with photos so I can prove to the insurance company what went missing if anything were to happen.
