Theres a million japanese brands, and most are pretty expensive. Unless theres a good reason to stock them and they're popular, its just not possible to carry all japanese lines here.
Cant say i've even heard of them. Havent even seen them on Japanese sites, so are they popular anywhere?
Is there anywhere in Australia that has them? Cant say its a WA thing if no other stores in other states have them either
ISO TSURI is a major fishing style in japan, lierally means rock fishing, and it uses very long and thin rod like 5.3, 6.4m, always telescopic, and the fishing must use a special float, very special techiques. it has so many variations and hard to master, but very effective, especially when fish are too fussy and sly. ISO uses very thin lines and very small and sharp hooks. the rod's great suppleness is used when fighting with big fish. more exciting.
the rod, float and any other parts of the ISO rig are rarely seen in australia, usually brought by fishers from their original country. tackles are widely manufactured and sold in china mainland, taiwan, hongkong, korea and japan. it originated from japan but same popular in china and other asian countries.
asian countries have large population so fishings are not so easy as it is in here. but i love the its techinques, and the process is more fun and most challenging.
yes ISO catchs lighter fish than big game fishing but don't forget it mostly uses lines under 10lb. and don't you think some smallers fish are more difficult to catch? and don't look down on the lightweightness of it, i'm not sure if you can land a 8kg King with a 7.5lb line within 10 minutes, but one of my friends in sydney did it.
Hi Mate, do you do ISO fishing? I recently bumped into another guy who doe sit seriously, but not here as it looked ridiculuos (for now) as it's not popular style of fishing. I have a rod, which I thought of nothing until meeting this person. It is what you said - serious style with specialised everything. Almost like the Ayu fishing in Japan with super long pole. If you do the fishing style here in Perth Metro/Mandurah, please PM me, we will go on from there. I do see some Korean do it at the Moles and the Cut sometimes, but targeting other easier fish like gardies, herring , slimy mack or yellowtail. Dont mid trying it on the buffalo bream as they r good fun on light rod. Known people using heavy rods and reel just to pull it up and decimate the population.
