Issues with uploading photos

Hi All
I am trying to upload some pictures but it just wont work. I have tried to follow the steps stated in the 'how to attach images' etc threads, but no luck. This is the error msg that always comes up even after resizing the pics to 500kb 'Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 83886080 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 5120 bytes) in /home/fishwrec/public_html/includes/image.gd.inc on line 95'
Anyone with any ideas or help?
Cheers

Is it a .jpg image you are uploading? There have been a few threads with pics attached this morning which aren't having the same problems. Are you using the multi image uploader?

It is a .jpg image, but
It is a .jpg image, but I have had this issue for about a week now and can not work it out. It is only a single image (haven't tried multi yet as I can't work out the single LOL).
These are my steps: Create content --> Photo --> Put in the title, where to go and where it is coming from --> Hit save and that error msg always comes up
I am looking at the 'Uploading images' thread for how to do it, but then thought it was this but still get the same issue 'NOTE - What will be displayed in your File Upload dialogue, will depend on how you have the directory of the folder that contains your image set up. Whether you display details, thumbnails (small images) etc.'

Wierd
Wierd, can you email me the photo you are trying to upload so I can see if that's the problem.
You have the process right, Create Content -> Image -> Title - Album - Description - Click browse and select the photo -> Submit

You mentioned about resizing
You mentioned about resizing to 500k. Were they still large files? Perhaps they were just over? Most images for the web should be less than 100k in most situations.

Adam - I will email the photo
Adam - I will email the photo now
hlokk - They were originally large files, about 2mb, taken from the camera. I used FastStone photo resizer to bring them down to a quality without stuffing up the image. I did try 100k size but it was not good at all.

Problem
The problem lies with the dimensions of the image.
Yours is : 3664 x 2748.
The site says when I tried to upload it (a smaller version of the one you sent me): The original image was resized to fit within the maximum allowed resolution of 1280 x 960 pixels.
What is happening is the site is trying to resize the image 3 times smaller to make it allowable on the site, when it is trying to do this it is running out of memory due to all the other things going on with the site at the same time.
If you use the microsoft image resizer powertoy:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe
Download it, install, then right mouse click your images, (4th or 5th option down will be resize image - small, medium or large (choose medium)). It will create a new file with the same name as your old one with (medium) attached to the end, upload that to the site and all will be sweet.
Cheers,
Adam

I knew it was something
I knew it was something simple. The dimensions didn't cross my mind at all, only the total size did ... damn it lol
Thanks alot for your help Adam.

it's easier to just use
it's easier to just use photobucket.
