Is it possible

Hi Ya,

... to purchase that nice flashy stuff you find on metal (particularly Halco Twisty) lures and if possible, from where? And is it possible to buy luminious paint?

Thought I'd buy some heavy flat bar and try making my own jigs. I mean, if you guys (well, some of you anyway) can catch sambos on shifters and ring spanners, then why not on flashy steel bar?

Had actually considered getting the steel chrome plated, but then realised that the cost would be equal to or higher than buying quality jigs so gave that up.

Cheers.

You could get it from some bike shops awhile ago, or you could try spotlight or similar.

Last cast....

Hi Ya, Thanks

Hi Ya,

Thanks guys.

NoWories, yes, lead would work, but I don't have a mechanism for melting it (yet) and thought steel bar would be easy to cut.  On top of that, I once tried making poppers (used 25mm jarrah dowell for weight) and they seem to work fine so thought I'd give this a go just for fun.

Mako, I wouldn't have thought of searching for 'prism tape'.

Cheers.

Good Onya

Good onya Ody for making your own - as you said, Sambo's are reported to go for anything. That said, I've got a couple of SWLAB 370g Slims on my 'wanted' list for Chrissy. Reckon they'd go down like a bullet, offer absolute minimum drag in a fair drift and the prismatic/lumo attributes wouldn't hurt much either.

Melting lead is easy Ody -

Fri, 2007-12-14 13:49

Melting lead is easy Ody - camp stove...or if you don't get caught kitchen stove.  Better outside though in a well ventilated area as gases given off are toxic.  Use an old aluminium pot...or mutli grips and a tin can.  Use welding gloves and pre heat mould used.

Cheers Pete.

Ps Scrap s/s could be used too and polish it up (time consuming though).

Jigs 25 or 30 years ago in the uk but they were called Pirks back then(still are over there I think) we used to cut up old pram frames fill the tubes with lead  flatten out the ends drill for split rings and attach a treble on one end we used them for catching cod (not like the australian cod) off the east coast fishing over wrecks they worked a treat!
To all the virgins..............Thanks for nothing!

Don't buy the tape just get some of their stickers and use some acetone to get the black print off .
