if it was me, i'd wait a while before looking to purchase a fin nor rod. Reels are fine and they've been around and have a good solid reputation for their toughness. The rods on the otherhand are relatively new to our markets so, wait til you get some feedback on them before looking at one.

Well thats just my personal opinion, so if there's anything that'll go wrong with it, at least you have more chance to hear about it before it happens to you.

I was looking at the 20lb model.

Very nice, light, good components, good spacings and butt configuration but it was built off the backbone. If they had one "built on the bone" I would have bought it..

To be honest, they look ok, reasonable good build quality but....

A bit long for a jig rod and line class are way over rated. The 30-50 you looked at is more a 30, personally I wouldnt run more than 30lb on it. Triangular grips are good in theory but uncomfortable in real life and no gimbal on the heavier models. The 80lb rods need to have double overbinds on atleast the overhead models, if not the whole range. Personally I'd look others.

The old Silstar Crystal Blue Powertips are awesome, robust and full Fuji and ALPS components. Eupro Exploder II and Jigmaster 30-50 as well as the Ugly Stik Bluewater series.

you put the but on the ground and hold the tip in 1 hand.

angle the rod about a 45 degreese to the ground and push down with your other hand about midway up the rod.

now "roll" the rod along the floor.

the rod should "snap" into a position in such a way that it is supposed to bend.

if it doesnt. ie guides off to 1 side. its not "on the bone"

can be a problem. especially with overhead models as the rod will want to twist in your hand.

just don't push down too

just don't push down too hard with a graphite rod or you'll snap it as the rods not meant to be loaded that way.
