Cracking rankins there, the tail assist doing the job in the top pic. Were you running one off the top as well?

Judging by the background they were caught in a reasonable shallow depth.

 We catch quite a few, and find the larger ones get chewy. Seems to come in at around  7kg, won't keep them any more over that size. Below that, one of the best eating fish in the sea, and they go hard. Like their baits big, whole gardies, big livies, 7" Berkely Grubs and, yes, jigs

Yeah, we necked the bigger ones as well. Had a feed off one of the bigger ones the other night and was very good on the chew.
Had a few baito's on the boat and pretty much all the rankins fell to jigs, for some reason not to many of them got caught on bait...The jigs slayed it.

 We just got back from 5 days at the Monties. 2 of us jigging a 7 baitos. 

Smashed heaps of them big rankins on jigs and BIG trout. Jigs where always 1st to hookup every drop.
