Jurien Bay

Hey guys

Heading to Jurien in a few weeks and looking for some advice on best spots to fish?

Had a search around and some good tips there but not too recent. Anyone been lately with an update on the weed as well?

Will be landbased and no 4wd.

I have heard the jetty is as good a place as any but will be very busy so anywhere slightly secluded to relax and have a frothy without the hassle of tangling up with others?

Cheers

Jurien Area

Hey mate,

Hill River is a very popular spot about 10 mins south of Jurien. Accessible without a 4x4 and you can get into plenty of choppers and B&B species. Generally pretty good as far weed conditions.

If you don't mind walking, there are plenty of spots on the southern side of town worth a crack for a beach fish. You also have Sandy Cape to the north - 4x4 not required to get in.

I'd be more inclined to hit up the marina walls - to be honest I have not fished them much as Jurien is usually just a 'food stop' on the way to my preferred spots :-) But this time of year you can expect to get in to tailor, whiting, herring, squid etc and a chance of something bigger (mulloway, snapper). Fish the ocean side.

There are some good options just north - however 4x4 required.

I know they had some problems with fish kills at the marina due to a build of up weed choking out the oxygen - hopefully that is all cleaned up and things are returning to normal.

Cheers,

Buschy

Thanks Buschy

Yeah I spoke to the Jurien Tourist Board (I think that's who it was) and they reckon it's all cleared up and good again so see how I go.

The rock walls could be a goer, they safe enough and easy enough to navigate around and land fish?

Cheers

Plenty of herring, yakkas, etc. at night around the jetty. Chuck a few out live. Make sure you have pretty heavy gear as we got smoked more than a few times on 50lb on a recent trip up there

sorry if this is hijacking thread- do the beaches north of jurien fish better than south? I have 4wd and heading up there soon- is it just sandy cape that is good to target mulloway?
