your probably right but if I ever go done using 1 I would argue that being a spring operated device it was operated by stored energy as against mechanical energy
I don't know why you'd bother to be honest. The simple motion of lifting a well made (bushmans) snare would be a much easier and more effective than trying to get your timing spot on with a spring loaded cray loop..
but to answer your question, I'd say the the info is pretty straightforward !! I'm pretty sure it even has a picture of a snare on the brochure (for those that struggle with the English language I suppose)
I wouldnt bother. Also a cray loop is much much to short. You need at least 6ft, and in my case I use an old fibreglass beach rod that has all the guides stripped off, apart from the end one to tie the loop too. Some say its to long, but then I try to never touch the water and use the long pole to get to the bait.
The size of the cable in a cray loop is also much to wide to get around the marron tail - a touch and they spook.
Spring loaded ones are illegal, but as mentioned the force in the tightening process would amputate a poor marron. Even the "pull" snares would probably cut them in half.
PeterMac - you have been living in the Pilbara tooo long. A bushmans pole is piss easy to use. At least after only 6yrs I can remember
where is the new job ? tried to pm you a few times but I get cant get through , we should catch up for a beer and fish some time now I am a man of leisure

Has to be
a bushmans pole style snare that must be self tightning.
Doesn't sound like a cray loop

confused self tightening
if the spring in the tube of a cray snare closes the snares loop doesn't that make it self tightening

Nah mate, that makes it
Nah mate, that makes it mechanically tightening, there is a mechanism in the snare that makes it tighten. Get asked that question all the time

A cray snare
Would struggle on 80 mm marron. Would cut a undersized one in half I think,if not it would do major damage.
So tell me have you got your info from years on the water or hours on the internet?
