From memory you should be

From memory you should be right once you get over there to walk along that stretch. I think there is a tinny hire place just down from the tourist bureau if your interested. I'd avoid going through the mouth of the river in an inflatible though unless your feeling a bit crazy and suicidal, can be a bit nuts even in relatively calm weather...from what I saw when I was there last November.

A whole month of fishing? I am seriously jealous.

Yeah that's shouldn't be a problem. Maybe just do it back a bit from the mouth to reduce any risks.

Easy as!

Yeah mate, as long as the rivers not flowing from floods, you'd get across there in a floaty tube!  We usually paddle across from the pelican feeding area, then walk across to Oysters.  The only tough part is if its blowing 30+knots.

I swam across it in less-than-ideal conditions from the wide bit near the BBQ area, and back - so a little inflatable will be piece of piss - unless it's blowing a gale !

Mind you, half way across I thought "fark, this is way longer than it looks".

then got to the other side and thought "fark, now I gotta get back !"

boat ramp

Tue, 2012-01-24 02:41

if u go in a direct line from the boat ramp straight across pull ya inflatable up on the beach on the otherside and thrw ya anchor out, that is the best spot there and easy to get back over with. if you have a day up there with no swell and a good easterly which u should start having round this time of the year def take a balloon with you but make sure you are using helium cos it wont get out the back without it! there is always macks patrolling the edges up there north of frustrations. if you wana do the hike walk up past the memorial to the first big beach bay a fair way up and fish the gutters for mullas and good tailor also good big yellow fin whiting. enjoy
