Kimberley small boat trip pics
A few snaps from the last trip, felt much more at ease this time being the second sojourn and actually got a few good sleeps in on secure anchorages!
Biggest surprise was the day we spent in the sale river, it was peaking and going nuts, debris was flowing down at a great rate of knots and we had to get out the way till the tide topped out, there was no way we were going to spend a night during the next tide turn so we bailed and got stuck on a bad anchorage out in the bay, where the next turn boomed thru the night a few hundred metres away as it tried to get out of the neck of george water! The noise was eerie. Good not to park near such constrictions during springs!
The Inland fishing was really tough this time, i think i threw lures every am and pm and bagged just a few queenies and Jacks, lots tuna in Cone and Stricklands, and we stumbled across a great coral reef ledge in a sheltered cove on an offshore island, that decimated all our heavy gear in one quick session. We really arent capable fishos!
Took a time lapse of the tide leaving us stranded in Crocodile Creek: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQZoG7vSuiA&feature=plcp
And this one of a gorgeous beach camp site on traverse Island - 9m spring tide: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Le2SoY7_7uo&feature=plcp

Nikon D3s body and various
Nikon D3s body and various lens, some pro ED glass and some cheap plastics
a crocodile trashed my good tripod while i was using a gopro on it so it got a bit hard after that doing the nite shots, the last pic took about 30 attempts and an hour to grab, ISO cranked up to 16,000, no good to enlarge or sell but nice result i was surprised
we also mounted gopros on RC monster trucks to drive along the mangrove banks to film close-ups of the local 'wildlife', but they got stuck in the mud, the RC plane that was going to get aerials of the boat and swamps crashed, and the RC duck with the cam mount was never going to outrun a hungry croc so she didnt even hit the water. Did get some amazing footage with a gopro on a 6m pole in a crocs face in ruby creek but! She slid past at a distance of about 5cms...!

yeah mate - the etec injested
yeah mate - the etec injested water from a tank a while back during a hell rough day off DHI (came in via the breather), and we lost an injector 2 months later gummed up because of the water, so in theory another could go, and just couldnt take the risk being that far out
and we hated carrying all that oil! Yammy is brilliant, didnt miss a beat and power on demand, which we used to film in hells gate!
ive got commercial boats and all i see nowadays in commercial is yammys, it was the ride last year thru the hori falls that sealed the deal for me - those guys need throttle at the flick of the palm and they get it!
gotta thanks Luke at Chivers for putting a new engine on at a great price too!
