Kingy's and Tuna?

G'day
I haven't taken the boat out in a few weeks and I'm itching pretty hard.
Has anyone got on the troll since the ban?
Last summer I did really well trolling for YTK's mostly in the 60-120cm range. Tuna were hit and miss for me, landed quite a few bonito (both oriental and watsons leaping) and the odd SBT.
Going to take the boat out regardless with a couple mates wondering if it is worth having a troll around, or just take them to catch some whiting. Not looking for anyones spots, I have my own. Just want to know if people have started to see them turn up.
Cheers.

Hi mate, wish I could help.
Hi mate, wish I could help. I'll be looking to get into the tuna this summer too. I'm on a jetski though so limited by distance. I plan to troll silstar Xmas trees just behind 5 fathom, Murray reef etc. Can you offer any advice? This will be my first go and I'm not sure how far I need to be out and at what depths, lures etc.

Little tuna and ytk
I'm planning on having a crack at the tuna and ytk this saturday (haven't targeted tuna off perth before), planning on heading to 35-40 m area off the back of ffb then troll up to rotto using some little metal head skirts. Will let you know how I go.

Went out, and trolled for a couple hours this morning. Landed about 10 all up. Kept 1 for a feed. The rest were thrown back along with a big dirty snook. Had a bit of an issue with the boat so unfortunately had to call it a day early. They are thick at the moment which is good to see.
Mostly rats around 50-60cm with a sprinkling of larger 80-90cm fish.
A rat at 50cm.
Better one at 85cm
All caught on trolled skirts and bibs, they were hitting anything in any colour.

Yep. I think next time, I'm going to take the bream rod and some small plastics. Find the schools by trolling, as I find they aren't in exactly the same place everytime. Then flick some small plastics at em on the 8lb and watch the reel spin!

Yeah, I was pretty chuffed - was about to take the lures out of the water when we got it. It got chased by a little shark when it was near the boat - haven't seen much of that in Perth.

We were trolling live herring
We were trolling live herring yesterday, one hook through the nose, wholey shit we had some absolutely huge fish smash them out in about 12m. All missed the hooks and took off with the bait, gonna need to have another hook down near the tail from now on. Not sure if they were sambos or some bigger kings but the hit on the surface was massive!
Also chased a school of small tuna around for about half an hour but they were just too fussy, fixated on tiny bait fish.

YTK...
is this anywhere off Hillary's? Thinking of dropping the boat in for a few hours tomorrow morning but having never chased YTK in Perth, I'm not sure where to go other than west end?

West end and Hillary's would
West end and Hillary's would be your best options when starting out. Best places in Hillary's is near exposed reef, be careful when trolling around these areas.
I usually run two deep divers one in each corner, then a largish pusher shotgun behind the prop was. Many people have told me that this set up won't work due to the different trolling speeds that both lures need. I find that to be rubbish. Yesterday we found the divers were getting more fish but the larger fish were on the pusher riding shotgun. I even run wire on my lucky pusher, doesn't seem to put them off at all.
Also don't be afraid to run your divers in close to the boat. The wash and boat will attract fish.
