Ktown Macks & Tuna
Submitted by pricey10 on Thu, 2012-12-13 13:48
Hi all i had a good little session this morning. My mrs Terri wanted to go out but she gets sea sick so goin offshore was not and option.
I decided to get the halco's out after a year of no use and replaced the rusty hooks. on the way out we cast some stickbaits into the tuna schools and ended up with 6 mack tuna in 8 casts on the light gear, was a good start.
We went out to where we always use to catch macks and as i was running the first lure out it got smashed! 30 min later we had 3 on board and lost a couple to. The biggest on was estimated 20kg+ (in the photo below im 6foot 5) we kept one for a feed then Terri got seasick again so had to leave at 9.30am, bloody shame that

sounds like a great session.
sounds like a great session. maybe you need to slip the missus a travacalm with her breakfast so you can hit the water longer, they work great for my wife.
great size mac too, would have been fun

Worth the coin
I run a daisy chain with splashers and squid, and a pusher on the back. Made it myself and looks cool on the water. Also have a witch doctor and run this about 6m behind. I am convinced it brings pelagics in, and have had to replace the pusher a couple of time because of smashes from macs. Even been tempted to but a hook in it, but its on a cord and that would not be fair on the fish just hauling it in.
Lazy days where we dont deploy the chain or doctor just dont seem to get many hits.

nice makkie!
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.
