Lacepede islands. Camping/fishing information wanted

Looking at doing a trip with a few boats over in April around the Easter/ANZAC day period. Have used to search bar function but cannot find too much information on where to launch from? I was thinking beagle bay or middle lagoon or banbana wells.
Are neap tides better or springs for chasing gts?
Has anyone camped there before and what set up did you use a pulley system?
Fishing wise just wanted to do some jigging and popping over the reefs. Can anyone shed some light on what else to target while over there?
Any information would be much appreciated and will make sure to do a report on the trip for people wanting to the same thing in the future.

We did a bit of exploring there 15 yrs back when I was shark fishing up that way.
Not sure about the fishing but on a higher tide you can get your boat between the islands and park in a lagoon right there.
Obviously cant get out though at lower tides though

Pretty sure you need a permit to even set foot on the Islands, and I got the impression unless you have a legitimate research reason it doesn't get granted. I could be wrong though. Have been thinking about doing the same for a few years but sleeping on the boat where Rob mentioned it pretty protected in "the gut", used to work on a boat where we'd take Monash uni out doing bird research on offshore islands and Lacepedes was one of them. I always figured 70 miles from Gantheume might be less time and effort than towing up to Beagle Bay, launching and hoping your car is how you left it when you get back :)

Howdy
I went there about 12 years ago - we launched from Middle lagoon, 2 boats and camped on the boat - we went on spring tides which was interesting (nice getting woken up by the boat bottoming out as the tide goes out!
We anchored in a small bay - two anchors out in a V formation - at low tide a lot of big rock pools form - filled with crayfish and the occasion stranded turtle :-)
Probably my most memorable experience was climbing one of the light towers (light house) and having lunch at the platform at the top - amazing view
Water was very dirty (due to tides) and there are no shortage of sharks- enjoy and be sure to post some pics
We found some mud crabs on one of the island which was a nice change after eating crayfish and spangled emp every day :-)))

Reason you went on spring tides and not neaps? Thanks for the info. To many crays sounds like a good problem to have

We went with a mate of my
We went with a mate of my dads - he was doing some work with the maritime museum and he was looking to see if he could find any remaining evidence of the pearling colony that was previously wiped out - went on spring so we could access as much area by foot as possible.
Dad and I spent most of our time fishing - which was good as they found nothing other than a few old bottles. One day in particular (moving off crayfish and mudcrabs) we came across a low pool of water over the sand at low tide - when I say low I mean about 5-10cm deep and we got a good feed of (trapped) prawns out of it..... yumo
take some garlic and lemons with you!! :-)
