Lady Joyce tiger and tailor
Weather report looked a bit suspect from what it was the night before so instead of heading north to the Beejaling Shoals we went south to the Lady Joyce wreck.
First drop and things looked real good with Nev's missus Anne on with a double header of a good snapper and an undersize one to start the day.For the next hour or so things were quiet with only under size pinks coming in every drop.
I got into a good pink followed by 2 more in successive drops then it was Nev's turn and a second one coming in for Anne.
Spotted what I thought was a mackie cruising around,took the sinker off,pulled about 15 metres of line out and tossed the baits out and bang off it went .Not a mackie but a double header of a little pinkie and a reasonable tailor.Next cast came up with another tailor around 2kg.
Things went quiet again with a big tiger paying us a visit.Missed the better shots when he was right next to the boat but managed some on its second lap,estimate it at 11-12 foot,ttttoooo big to swim with or toss a bait at.
Ended up keeping 12 tailor and 10 pinkies,releasing what seemed like hundreds of undersize pinkies and around a dozen tailor,the biggest being about 3-3 1/2 kg.It always happens when you have your bag limit on ice and the bigger fish start biting,oh well, one can't complain.
Spoke to a mate who went north to the "shoals" when we got back,he had a poor trip.One just size pinkie and a small rankin were the only keepers.Said they got catfish where ever they moved

Still a month to go.They have got to drive 2 more piles and then its only the half caps,beams and decking to go.
Once the gap is filled they have a lot of work to do around the end.

How economical

Boat
The boat isn't mine,it belongs to Nev,I'm the decky/skipper/navigator/gaffer/engineer you name it.He came out on my boat for a trip to the islands,got a double header of big pinkies and that was it.Went out and spotted the ad on a notice board,got me to have a look and test run it,then bought it.He's had boats many years back but no where near as big as this so he wanted me to show him how it all works.
Economy works out around .8 litres per nautical mile at cruising speed of 12-13 knots.
For the last two weekends the weather has been good for fishing,a rare event for this time of the year so no ones complaining.
