Another possibility during the ban

Here's another fish we can maybe hope for over the ban period....not too much of a fluke too given the last few years around this time.

Just sensational butterfly filletted, wrapped in alfoil and baked stuffed with rice, cream, chopped bacon, tomato, breadcrumbs and spices!!!

Was goooooood.

Oh, got it last friday evening on a whole gardie meant for tailor on a local offshiore reef!!.......and lost another 2!!

Cheers,

Joe

Salmon

Fri, 2009-10-23 20:52

Yeah, I was anchored and baitcasting over a local reef, no tailor, which was a shame, but can't argue about the salmon!

This time of year and up until mid December I would expect to get a few of them, we always seem to get a few while chasing tailor.

It's been a long time between posts, but I hope to put a few more up in the next couple of months during the ban, nothing anyone with a 10ft or above tinny couldn't do!

Cheers,

Joe

There seems to be a few reefy spots around Perth where you will find some resident salmon.

You really seem to be the full bottle on this type of fishing, Joe...have you had much luck using metals/minnows/poppers on those reefs?

Lures

Sat, 2009-10-24 10:51

Yeah Aus, I've tried all sorts, nothing beats small whole gardies though.
My latest homemade lure hasn't worked yet (but I haven't got a tailor on bait either), but you wait til I get one....you'll laugh your head off at the pic!!

I've been too busy lately to really give it a shot much, but as the weather hopefully improves I'll get out more often.

If this flaming wind would drop......I keep checking outside....I'd be out there in a flash!

One of my customers said he got into a big school of salmon (full size fish) recently at an offshore reef so yeh good to see they're about!

Nice fish Joe, definately plenty of options during the 8 week demersal ban!
