Leeder Tomcat

Boat seems to cavitate with the trim set anything above 1/4, basicly bottom 1/4 down is ok but if you set it to neutral trim the thing revs its tits off and goes nowhere. Is this normal? Boat runs well enough with it trmmed right down just curious as to why it would cavitate so much as soon as it goes above the 1/4 mark. 4.3 inboard model, any previous owners have any insight would be much appreciated.

Got one
Hey mate.
I also own a Tomcat.
Don't have so much the same issue, but mine will only cavitate if I turn too sharply or quickly. (Which I believe most boats would).
The only other time is if I'm in a following sea with the motor trimmed up (In the position the smart guage say's) it will also cavitate.
I just lower the trim and this solves the issue.
Couldn't be happier with the performance of the boat.
I also have a 4.3ltr Mercruiser.

not sure about the tomcat
but i have a 4.3 and after around 1/4 of the trim it will cavitate under speed! why would you need to lift the trim any higher than that??

cheers guys was just curious
cheers guys was just curious is all, it performs great and there is no real issue and as stated 1/4 down its fine, been informed its normal as they tend to be a nose down boat. was suggested a mercury enertia prop may make a difference so going to try one.

Thanks brendan will keep that
Thanks brendan will keep that in mind, its runnng the stock prop what ever that is but i believe the new enertia one ordered is a 15 15, i could be wrong. Will test rpm and top speed with stock prop then try the enertia and post the results.
As of now i know top speed full fuel 2 people and empty boat is 29.7 knots, dont know the rpm so will have to check. Whats a merc 4.3's rpm operating range?

My top speed with full fuel 2 people and empty boat is 35 - 36 knots.

thanks mate, was thinking
thanks mate, was thinking 29/30 knots was a bit off the mark, its a new prop also.
one problem is boats being kept in the water so will have some build up on the hull, looks like a nice cold dip to scrub it down before the next run is in order
