My folks are up ther at the minute. Said that people are getting squid off the jetty but the beaches are full of weed to the point that there is no point wetting a line.
Sleeping on the beach would be great. Temp wouldnt get far past 15-18 degrees trusting you could get out of the breeze.

Went the back
way from the track behind the caravan park (Leeman), took granddaughter fishing and caught some nice herring and 3 undersize flounder which went back. The beach half way (to LA) is blocked off with big gullies of weed (nearly got our dif stuck old fart had to reverse back quite away to turn around and go back from where we came from) , weed on all the beach but some areas to fish. High tide in the morning water is nice and clear, no muddy looking water but unfortunately beaches are full of mountainous weed. Damn kids on their dirt bikes and buggies have destroyed some of the tracks ggggrrrrr
Monday its lovely and 28c, sea breeze came in about 11.00am, not strong, still ok to fish LB.

Do you mean
were you turn right to Enbabba Rd and left to the little crayfishermans jetty. Last week the beach was full of weed but didn't drive around the point there. The Bay at Green Head (where jetty is) is full of weed also.
In the 16yrs I've been coming up with old fart (him over 25yrs) never seen the beaches so bad with weed the last couple of years, since the bad earthquake in Indonesian (archa I think) the weed seems to be on the beaches all year round. Normally the beaches are clear for summer months, not any more ggrrr.
The herring are biting and caught some small flounder, under size so went back, to grow big, damn as they are a good eating fish.
Dolphins and seals were catching occie further out.

Gum Tree Bay
My family used to have a shack up there 20 years ago, and I spent alot of time there as a kid, fishing beagle island etc.
Anyway the Jetty that was spoken about is at Desperate Bay, about 10kms ahead of there is another group of Cray shacks, there are Gum trees close to the beach that you can see from the road, the turn off is on a sweeping bend that turns to the left as you head toward Dongara, you should see large sand dunes farther ahead on the ocean side.
When you find it, there is a track that heads to the right as you get to the beach (there is a shack right on the beach), follow that for a few kms and there is a hill on the right as the track turns to the left over another limestone hill, to the left here there may still be a wind mill, if not the well will be there, and the water is fresh. from here head to the right and you will see some large sand dunes.
At the base of these sand dunes is an old airstrip, there used to be quite a few shacks here too back in the day, and it is a great place to camp...although the signs say no camping as you first turn off the road.
I went up there a couple of years ago to show my wife, and the tracks were a little overgrown, my hilux had 3000kms on it at the time and I scratched the shit out of it as the tracks are overgrown (not recommended).
Maybe you didn't know about it and you would like to have a look, the airstrip is on the water, just behind small sand dunes that offer protection, nice sandy beaches also.
worth checking out.

just spent 3hrs
today at illawong and caught some nice fat herring and old fart got a good sized manna crab on the hook, didn't let go, so he came home and drowned it, steamed it ready for a crab sandwich tomorrow hahah Grand daughter caught a female crab but let go when it saw the jetty haahah
had a look at the beach there and there are some good clear spots on the beach between seaweed banks, water is crystal clear at the moment, so hoping its clear for you all on the week end, nice and warm 26c with a n/w'er blowing from about 9am till we left at 12pm got a bit stronger. Hooked up to something very big, old fart said a sting ray but lost it before we could see what it was. Nice little bream which all were thrown back and a heap of very big fat butter fish, all thrown back. grand daughter had a good day and caught 2 big fat herring.

had heaps of squid ink on the jetty but can't tell who and when they were caught. Also heard the crayfishermans jetty (next to town boat ramp in Leeman) has been firing up with squid at night, water has also cleared up around the main jetty.
Don't know if Gumtree has been opened for the school holidays mbusby, as it was fenced off and locked off for the Easter break.
Pelted down with rain Wednesday night here from about 8.00pm too well into the morning, bit cool this morning but fined up during the day, very overcast. Good swell running, should have the fish fired up for you for the weekend. Good luck on your fishing mbusby for the week end. Should be fining up for the week end.
The Bay at Green Head from Point Louise to GH today had weed on it but the water is crystal clear, damn good swell running and breaking over the reefs there. The crays should be running by the week end.
