A lesson learnt
Submitted by catchalittle on Thu, 2009-09-17 15:43
Took the boat over to Guildford today to get serviced and on the way home stopped at Hungry Jacks ducked in to get a burger, good burger by the way got home backed boat back in to the workshop unhitched and thought I would put the new life jackets in that I had bought from the dealership.Got in to the boat and straight away noticed something missing
My 3 month old Lowrance HDS 7 sounder and gps some mongrel had helped themselves to it when I was grabbing my burger talk about theft of oppertunity have advised the boys in blue but I doubt I will ever see that again.Plus considering I just upgraded the card as well.
If you hear of anyone selling a model as above cheap please let me know
All my gps spots that I have collected over the years are gone I knew I should have bought that nav planner for computer now I have to start from scratch.
My burger will have cost me over $2000
Another lession learnt never leave your boat unattended no matter where you are

Check their cameras
If you go into hungry jacks they may have cctv cameras on the area you parked they should be able to get footage...I know they (some fast food joints) have them inside not sure about outside though...worth a try.

Sorry to hear that but
the scum bags have hit the club, contractors putting in new jetty had their 15hp motor taken off their little barge type dingy and in the undercroft they stole the big bug catcher light thingie we had ....... if they get caught they'll only get a slap on the wrist and back into stealing.
Hope Hungry Jacks have cctv for you to get the little darlings

Try emailing or ringing the
Try emailing or ringing the distributor telling them what happened and if anyone orders the aerial and transducer for the model you lost they can at least inform the cops and get them to suss it out, you might be able to track it down that way.

Your insurance should cover
Your insurance should cover it. With marine insurers like Nautilas or Club you don't have to prove forced entry for theft..

Good point Rod
Your insurance should cover it as a noted accessory, espicially if you can provide them with a photo of the item installed on the boat. Timely reminder to make sure you include cover for fishing gear and accessories on your insurance and take a few photos (of the gear on the boat) that you can send through to the insurance company in the event of a claim.

I wonder where can a mobile
I wonder where can a mobile electric fence can be bought from, to keep those opportunists off boats that are parked for a short period, plug fence into 240 volts and have a bucket of water handy, that will fix them. unlucky is all I can say.

Well made the report today
Well made the report today and was told by the officer dont like yor chances of getting it back there has been a few reported cases of units being taken lately.plus to make it worse went in to the store and the one place where I parked the boat was just out of the cctv footage nice view of my car.
Insurance will cover it so have ordered a new unit and card and going to invite some mates around for a BBQ and hit them up for some spots.

Thieving Bastards
I recently had to take the dog to the vet in that area.
Putting him in the back of the car I put my wallet on the rear running board.
Had a Mitsubishi Triton 4x4 with two likely lads follow me to the lights and one gets out opens his bonnet. mmm I thought must be overheating...... Next thing he ducks down and then back up and closes the bonnet, lights turn green and as we moved forward the penny drops and I realise what's just happened.
(They got about $350 but the big issue was all my cards) I try to pull over but no where to go, they turn left and I try to follow but the bloody engel falls on the dog so I've got to stop and save it or I'm REALLY in the crap.
You can just see it now, "Hi honey got my wallet pinched"
her -"Oh well never mind"
me - "oh and I managed to crush the dog to death with the fridge in the back of the car".......
her - " click - chick"
I got their number plate they got away. many hours reporting and chasing it up.... they deny it... police can't do anything.
I've got the number plate Mr H- WN %$#^&* so next time I see them ;)

Shammy wasnt it rev's that
Shammy wasnt it rev's that you could ring with a licence plate number and they could check the details for you I think people who were buying cars did this to make sure the car was not stollen and was owed by the actual person selling it one way you could get their details and pay them a visit
