Lewmar anchor winches

I'm having problems -again - with my Profish. Certain components are damaged and the spare parts pricing system makes the mafia look like a benevolent society. Anyone else had problems? They are very easily damaged if the anchor is pulled up too tight into the bow roller/fairlead. I'm working on a possible cheap fix, that, should it work out, I'll be happy to share.

Yeah mate,

ive had problem with mine from the start. I'm guessing you are using on freefall and when you retrieve, it doesn't tighten enough to pull the anchor up??

either that or the the thread on the capstan has stripped

Any slight bend in the centre pin/ axle and it won't grab enough.

first time I had it replaced under warranty, then same thing again.

one way around it is if in freefall mode, once you have dropped/ set the anchor, you can manually tighten with the tool or a 1/2 inch socket wrench and you can then retrieve whenever you want (you just have to do it again after every drop).

other option that I've reverted to now is just tighten the capstan and leave it on power down and power up. Takes longer obviously to drop anchor but saves having to go to the bow every time to tighten it.

im waiting for mine to die so I can replace it with a drum winch.

Or your problem may be different??
