list of do's and don'ts... please add your wisdom

 Hi all,

Probably already been done but was thinking it would be good to have at least one must do or don't from each of us.

Landbased and boat.

I'll get the ball rolling;:

#1 - Never leave home without the SKIPPER putting in all bungs!

(I stipulate it must be the skippers job to avoid major marital, family or  friend rifts when you launch and skipper starts screaming at nominated deckie...  ive been on both ends:-)

Who's next......????

Check the bilge pump

Tue, 2014-06-10 18:58

To ensure one of your rookie deckies hasn't lost a bit of gladwrap from around one of his banana sandwiches which has made its way to the bilge pump from a previous outing and has completely blocked the intakes and your taking water 13 miles off coral bay due to a scupper that no longer wants to be part of the boat!

 Awesome suggestions and humour guys!!

Keep em coming!

Tie a rope to bottom rung of boat ladder so you can pull up easy without doing your back in or putting your head into an opportunistic sharks mouth.

I always carry a couple of emergency blankets (the thin foil type) on board in the first aid kit in case of hypothermia - cheap at 3-4 bucks each, take up bugger all room and could save your life or that of someone else.

Should be a mandatory part of safety gear in my mind.

Where possible strap the back of your boat to your trailer! I learnt the hard way on how easily a boat can be dislodged
