Hey guys,
Basically im a bit of a noob and my girlfriend bought me a new 10ft beachrod for xmas. (I think its a cheapy although it is an ugly stick and when i was younger they were the cream of the crop right?)
Anyhow its a 6-10kg and i have put 9kg braid on it. The guy at bcf also talked me into buying a 60lb black magic leader. (I thought this was a bit over the top, but what would i know im a noob). Im thinking of going for an early morning fish down at challenger beach but not quite sure on the setup i should use and what i could expect to catch down there.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Cheers

hey good to see u giving it a go. always a chance of taylor at the crack of dawn or some jumbo herring. the rig i would be using is a set of 5/0x3 mustard tarpons or what ever gangs you got. then a tri swivel with a sinker at the bottom most proberly a star sinker. have the gangs on a leader of about 60 cms then have the sinker about 5 cm from the swivel pretty mutch tying the sinker as close as you can have it to the swivel to prevent tangles. pretty mutch wat i use for all my taylor, mulloway, herring and what ever else is out there
hope you can use this info and get a nice feed in the morn, oh and dont forget to read the beach look for a nice gutter that runs along the beach, if you dont know how to read a few articles on the net they should be real helpful cause thats the same way i learnt to read a beach :)

I was down there the other day got heaps of small whiting and a small flatty, but that was using a small setup obviously. if you throw a bait out and leave it for a while with the beach rod who knows what you will get. probably a ray or something else if your lucky, i hear there is some tailor and herring there if you go at the right time aswell
