I went
I went there just before the season opened. Saw a few fish near the dam wall but they didnt want to hit my lures. I don't think they put any trout in there this year but i could be wrong.
The one thing i noticed was it was opened to boats agian, a couple big ski boats were flogging around blasting shit music at huge volume. It was a friday arvo and car loads of people started ariving and setting up camps, so the last time i will go there near a weekend.
Been going to Harvey instead but no camping anymore. Afew trout being caught on and off with plenty of redfin around the trees.

A mate of mine caught a few
A mate of mine caught a few there in late August, they were only around the 30 - 35cm size so would have been the yearlings from last year. No brood fish went in there this year so your much more likely to get a bigger fish in Harvey Dam and as Grant said fish in peace without ski boats everywhere.

No stocking this year
No stocking this year apparently due to the water authority carrying out remedial works on the dam at some stage in the not too distant future.

Tender
I saw in the paper a few weeks ago the tender for refurbishing the dam was up for application, the water was VERY low last time Iwas there. I think the shire is about to scrape it clean and refill it with new gravel...hope so, it is a top spot. Apart from the ski boats..

I love my fishing but also
I love my fishing but also own a ski boat. Lay off the ski boats boys. Off course you get the weekend wankers who think they own the dam and drink piss to impress their girls but for the minor few who do the right thing and take the kids out to have a good time without computers and shit TV. Just saying that's all. Plus, we are soon to run out of places to use our ski boats if people had their way so a little give and take is needed I reckon. People seem to be buying boats but the governments are not releasing any new dams or territory's in the river for us to use which causes over population and dangers which I'm concerned about with my kids! Cheers for my say in advance.

Always good to hear both
Always good to hear both sides of the argument. Ski boats are fun when you are on them but not so much when trying to fish. 2 sides to every story

Point taken
To be honest, I am simply jealous of ski boat owners, they look like heaps of fun and the amount of horsepower is bloody amazing. I have fished there with many boats over the years and still caught some good trout so I must retract my words....nah bugger it I am still green with envy for anyone that has a ski boat, bloody capitlast swine. They get all the girls too...bustards.

No ones
No ones realy bagging ski boats etc. Fishers have also been locked out of many waterways and dams thanks to the water corp. I just avoid them when i am fishing and understand certain dams are needed for this activity. I'm just glad a couple areas are power boat free for people who like a bit of peace and quiet weather they fish or not .
Cheers Grant .

The oportuntities to go
The oportuntities to go skiing have actually been getting greater now that they have opened up part of Wellington Dam for it. Of the irrigation dams where fishing is allowed there is only Drakesbrook Weir and Harvey Dam where skiing is not permitted. Ski boats are also allowed on some of the old mine voids out Collie way like Lake Stockton. Glen Mervyn Dam is the worst one when the ski boats are on the water as its quite small there is no where to get away from them.
