Long Point

Went down to Long Point on saturday arvo/evening to give the spot a try, plenty of good size herring around and also picked up a couple of tailor in the mid-30's. A local was telling me the tailor have been pretty consistent down there in the evenings. I'd avoid using bait till the sun is almost down, there were tonnes of pickers amongst the herring. Sorry no pics unless you want to see a sunset

overgunned
Yeah will certainly have to try that next time, was a bit overgunned down on saturday with surf gear and mulies. First time I've fished that spot so I'll certainly know what I need next time.
Watching an ep of iFish where they were using surf poppers on a patternoster had me thinking about trying to put a 3inch plastic on one dropper of a paternoster in the event of my mulie getting munched something might hit the placcy... maybe I need to try a big xmas tree rig with squid/prawn, mulie and a plastic :)

over gunned is the way down there though
my mate and me would go down there with 5 foot 2kg ugly sticks and laugh at the fellas down there with the huge rods as they laughed at us! untill we would catch five times the fish they did! we would use small mulies or blue bait this way you will catch the tailor plus herring whiting! and a nice flounder every now and again

Pickers
You do get whiting down there, but lately I have been finding that trumpeter and butterfish are the culprits before sundown.
