Didnt know about that Jeffree. Do you know if Joe is going to be running it again or has he sold it to someone else? If he has sold it to someone else i imagine they probably wouldnt even know what a Loomis and Franklin is.
Ah yeah i know James i will hit him up then, cheers for the insider info, i havent spoken to James since i was in the Osborne Park store the day Joe decided to close. Damn shame always was a good treat having a yak with Joe when i would drop in.
Yeah mate absolutly love the rod. It has such a versatile rod and has great action for doing any style of LB fishing. When i had the Medium Tip i used to use it all the time for trowing metas and poppers for Salmon down south or Tailor, Queenfish and Trevally up North. Put the Heavy Tip on and now i can use it for lobbing big baits out, or lobbing a big sinker out and slidebaiting with it. Caught some massive stingrays(not intentionally) and medium sharks on it and it has never faultered. Even used it for going after Blue Groper down south off the rocks. You can also opt to get it with a Light Tip so it would be 5 pieces in the pack, but at the time i got mine they only had the 4 piece pack in (Medium and Heavy Tip) so just got that instead.
Usually match it with my Daiwa Emblem Pro if lure casting or my Spheros 14000FB if lobbing big baits/sinkers. i also love the fact it breaks down into three pieces as i can take it with me anywhere. Like i can even chuck it on the back parcel shelf of my missus Hyundai Excels parcel shelf!!!. Taken it travelling on airlines with me a few times too. Great that they also come with a custom rod tube when you buy it that is big enough to fit other travel rods in it too for when i go away.
It comes as a Low mount but when i got it, i got a high mount seat also put on it. So i can choose if i want it high or low mount. Often lure casting i'll have it high mount. If bait throwing i usually have it low mount. I just find thats it more comfortable for me this way, though each person will have their own styles.
Sounds like a decent versatile rod mate, just trying to get something simialr that i can match with my torium, thanks for the info mate, hope you find your tip.
Cheers.
Ps. if anyone has seen these rods for sale anywhere, let me know
They come froim South Africa if i recall correctly, so you could probably get one direct from there. Joe from the former Getaway Outdoors store was the only store i knew in Perth that used to get them in. There maybe others though.
There were ones suited to overhead use, and i know the former store owner Joe used to use Torium/Trinidads on one of these rods. From all accounts from him it went real good. He did the whole S.Africa style casting/fishing with them.
The one down side is these rods arent cheap. I cant remember exactly but around the $350-$450 mark?????
