Submitted by Broome lad on Mon, 2015-12-21 13:01
Thanks to fisheries and the fella who found my pot that had the floats cut off someone must have run it over then cut it free left it with nothing tied to the rope . But goes to show if you put your gear I'd on your pots there is some hope of getting them back . Box of piss going to the fella who found it and lotto ticket for me .. And a kiss for the missus who saw the post on face book of a found pot .

seems not every one
seems not every one is a prick , these old blokes called me and my decky over last week to ask us if we had lost a pot , they had found a pot with no floats on it just the rope floating on the surface , they had pulled it said as it wasn't ours they would be keeping it , no id on the pot ,to me they removed a nav hazard

So, lets say it was your pot
So Petermac, lets say it was your pot which soneone cut with a propeller. And lets just say, you went out tomorrow to pull the pot. You went but don't see your pot. So, FW ends up with another thread/topic about pot thieves....
The right thing to do would be to tie an unmarked float to it and leave it there for the owner.

nope
not at all my pots are out now , didn't loose any this season but have lost a few over the last 2 years , what were they supposed to do leave the rope floating to catch some unsuspecting boater and wreck their prop , still say they did the right thing and how would the owner no it was theirs with an unmarked float have a think mate he would be in the shit if caught pulling it

Apologies for not
Apologies for not "thinking".
Have a look back at all the posts about lost pots this year. How many of those would be from people "keeping" unmarked pots with no ID? Not everyone marks their pots (only the floats).
Hope your old mates enjoy using other peoples' pots.
