new stella review

Wed, 2013-09-04 19:45

I think the reviews from Alan Tani will put a damper on some sales of the new Stella, not sure what model it was but they seemed to have made an expensive reel with some not so expensive parts

I just find them too heavy

I wholly accept the excellent engineering but there are many cheaper and lighter reels which will well and truly do the job on most of our local fish - however on GT's and Doggies may be pretty well THE essential tools but I have never really seen the point of having to skull drag big GT's and doggies - that isn't in my view fighting a fish it is just a tug of war.

A tug of war is fighting the fish literally - GT's and doggies will just do you over if you give them anything. Hence the tug of war.

if you've ever fished around reefs for GT's you'll realise that skull dragging and the tug of war is the ONLY way. "fighting" the fish as you put it with low drag is absolutely not an option. (unless you want to loose fish after fish after fish)

 Yep it's just handline

Yep it's just handline fishing with a $3000 component between you and the fish.

I use to love them, now that my 5000 SW has locked up I am not so sure, so Pissed off that a $850 Reel is stuffed at less than 2 years old that I can't bring myself to take it in to the shop, I guess when I settle down and take it in I'll find out what the 10 year warrenty will cover and if it is worth the paper it is written on.
