You'll be fine in the sound. Should be quite comfortable.

Last time i went out in my 13ft dinghy we got hammered in 7 knots and 2m swell. The wind and swell hit us side on blowing from north- south.
Maybe reconsider because they'll be many better weekends in the coming summer.

being that close to shore
being that close to shore you'll pretty much be right with any moderate Easterly wind. Swell wouldn't be much of an issue in the sound as it is fairly well protected.
I reckon get out there and find some squid!

The bigger question is - to
The bigger question is - to go wide, or not to go wide this weekend!
If the wind is pretty low I may get out there
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.
